I grew up thinking that the world is kind to everyone but in reality, yes it is kind but not all the time. Uncertainties will always be part of everyone’s life, hate will be thrown upon you and sometimes fear will not make you sleep at those cold nights. And in those cold nights all you wished was that hopefully the world could just be kind to you once again and could wake you up the next morning unoccupied by the thoughts and fears that tried to kill you the other night.

It’s okay to be afraid but you have to look on the mirror and ask yourself “will you let your fears stop you from trying again?” Because if you’re answer is ‘yes’ then it’s game over. Imagine your heart was broken by someone and you built a wall on you that no one can pass by because you’re too afraid of loving again. If you let those fear of opening your heart again with someone else then you would never find your soulmate. Imagine getting failed on a job interview for many times and you stopped sending out your applications because you’re too afraid of being rejected once more. If you let those fear of trying again you would never land on your dream job. Imagine setting aside your passion because you’re too afraid that a family or a friend might judge you doing something that doesn’t pay more as usual. If you let those fear of continuing the passion you worked on you would never see yourself that fulfilled doing things that makes you happy.

The feeling of inferiority and fears that we usually get out of our failures are all valid. You are allowed to be sad and afraid of what’s happening around. As life is not always rainbows and sunshines, there are rainy days and thunders flashing above the dark heavy clouds. So let me tell you to take the rest that you deserve. Rest your heart, rest your mind and soul because I know the power you could create once your heart, mind and soul works again after getting all the rest they deserve.

Fear will always be there waving on us from time to time but what we have to work on our lives is our bravery so it could rule over our fears. Take a break, accumulate all your reasons to fight, so at the end of each day you can rule over your own demons. Cheers to a braver you!

I would always feel that life hits harder on me since I was young. Most of the time, fate would put me on a situation that I needed to put more effort and sweat just to get the same result as anyone else. I was more broke and underprivileged, I was deprived with all the luxuries that people around me savor a lot. I needed to exert so much into my studies so I would not lose a scholarship that keeps me alive. I can’t stay late outside because no one would pick me up. I can’t eat those fast food menu because my allowance won’t allow me to. I can’t spend vacation far from home and the list goes on and on.

But you know what? I realized that those extra efforts that we put in our past will eventually result into something beneficial to us in the near future. It will make us more experienced in life and will make us feel more ready anytime life decides to shoot us. It will make us stronger as an individual, unbothered by anyone, will make us braver and bolder on whatever choices we decide to take.

I must agree when they say that tough situations build strong people because those battles of yours will thrive little by little into a power that you’ll be needing by tomorrow. One day if you come to the point where you doubt yourself again, remember all the battles you silently overcome. Remember how your young self get through your fears alone, how you mended your heart when it was broken, how you decided to listen to yourself when no one wants to hear your inner thoughts, how you still decided to smile when you actually wanted to cry and how you still chose to step forward when everyone around wants you to step back. They are not meant to destroy you, they were made just to discover additional strengths of yours. Keep going because we only become stronger by carrying heavy things. The heavier, the stronger we become!

Growing up, I would always see on how a book depicts life of a man and a woman. They would usually illustrate men being the head of a family, solely goes to work to earn a living and a strong individual who fearlessly do anything to protect his family while women on the other hand would usually be pictured as a person who would stay at home to take care of their kids, cooks for the entire family and gives light by giving love and care to every home. As I grow and experience life, I realized that anyone can freely do things that their heart desires. Women can stand and work hard to earn too while men are also capable of spreading care and peace at their abode. In short, anyone is in the position to take any role he or she aspires to get hold of.

I always dream that each women would wake up one day without the fear of going beyond because we also deserve to get our full potentials. Stop thinking that you need anyone in order to be capable of doing great because you alone can be great. Stop thinking that you can’t be like this or like that because anyone including you is allowed to prioritize what she really wants and not the world wants. Stop invalidating your worth just because society expects you to be less, please believe in yourself and you’ll be worthy beyond measure. And lastly, I want to tell you that you are fierce for fighting for yourself but you will be more powerful if you fight for and empower another being or a woman. Strength shouldn’t stop within you, it should be spread out to uplift other individuals who might got lost along the way and needs morale to continue winning life.

Always remember that one woman should not beat a man or another in order to be called strong or successful, one woman should be able to defeat her own self and her insecurities that society throws in order to be a winner. You are not weak, you are not incapable, you are not voiceless, those are just cliches that needs to be neglected. Focus on your own choice, mind your worth and always remember that you can be a game changer. Think like a queen, have a heart of a warrior and everything you believed in will be possible. Ladies, we can and we will! Always!

Did it ever happened to you that you woke up one morning and suddenly felt lost? For so many years you thought you had your life figured out and you led your life towards the path you always dream of walking on but then within that morning you opened your eyes, the wind blows entirely the other way. Your heart and mind are nowhere to be found and you completely lost your sense of direction.

Feeling empty, confused and unhappy is okay. It’s a feeling that we have to go through in order to be full, precise and genuinely happy again. Think of yourself as a moon, it needs to go different phases for a month in order to be full again and it’s fullness shines so bright beautifully even on the darkest nights. So no matter how empty you are right now, you will go through phases and can still be the light someone is waiting to shine on their darkest times. So prepare yourself to shine.

Not gripping on your sense of direction can be hard for someone who always visions his desires but think about all the possibilities life has to offer. You’ll be touching the lives of thousands or even millions of people a lifetime, there’s a lot of coffee to try in the tiny coffee shops of your hometown, there are plenty of white beaches to visit on your country and there are thousands of languages being spoken across the globe that we can hear by ourselves when traveling. There are so many dreamy things that will come our way as long as we believe. So prepare yourself to believe.

You might be extremely sad having your heart broken by someone. You might be feeling belittle because of a neighbor who judges you for not earning enough. You might be crying over the night because you can’t leave a job that you hate but feeds your entire family. You might be in the middle of a decision of either going forward or giving up. Regardless of how sad or how you push yourself to the inch of giving up, always remember that you will be fine someday. It might not be today or by tomorrow but I truly believe that you will. So prepare yourself to trust because someone still believes in you.

I am proud of you because you are still here, you’re lost but still living and trying to figure things out again despite all. It’s okay not to get all the answers to your questions today. You’ll be found again, someday. Don’t lose heart until then.

Dear self,

I know how hard it is to live on a world where struggles always arises out of the blue. You don’t let those obstacles torn you down. Your problems seems to be strong but I thank you for being stronger.

I know how frustrating it is for not getting all your dreams in life. I know how sad it is every night to think how far you still have to walk on your journey towards your wildest dreams but I thank you for not giving up.

I know how you cry when people starts to hurt your feelings, judge you and simply disagree with the way you wanted to live. It’s disappointing how many of us still believes with a certain standard setup by the community but I thank you for surviving.

I know how difficult it is to keep moving forward when the world around you starting to fill in with so much hate but I am proud of you and I thank you for still choosing love amid the uncertainty.

I know how you always feel inferior because of the people who are always trying to pull you down. Regardless how good you’ve shown to them they still have anything bad to say but I thank you for growing instead of feeling belittle.

I know how you struggle with every mistakes you didn’t wished to happen. Mistakes might be a result of your weaknesses but a single mistake should not define you and I thank you for learning from it and by just being a stronger version of yourself.

Lastly, thank you for always saving yourself when everyone else is busy saving their own lives too. I will always love you and I will never get tired of showing how thankful I am to you.

1. Some of the most beautiful lessons in life are learned in a hard way.

We have to fall and get hurt to grow. We have to know the feeling of being deprived to acquire more. Always remember that the world’s precious stones such as diamonds are made under pressure.

2. Don’t follow the crowd, follow your heart.

Living our lives depending on other people’s opinion is such a nonsense ideology. If you keep on living a life and making decisions based on other people’s judgements, think twice and imagine how happier it could be if you just let yourself to be you. At the end of the day, you don’t need to please anyone and you don’t need anyone’s approval.

3. Chasing your dreams is not as easy as it seems.

Before graduating from college, most of us tend to think that they are almost on their way to the top of their dreams but after graduation and stepping to the world of employment that’s where the real game starts. You’ll realize that school grades won’t really matter and what matters most is your actions.

4. Money can buy you things but it can’t buy life’s precious things.

Getting a lot of money is pretty much what everyone wants nowadays but have you imagined how it is more fulfilling to have a good relationship with your family and friends than having a hundred dollar shoes? Material things can give us happiness within the next few hours but a happy relationship, peace of mind, love and trust are some of the thoughts that will keep us in the long run.

5. Mistakes won’t define who you are.

Who among us doesn’t make any mistakes? It’s okay to be wrong, it’s okay to be on the wrong side of the road and it is okay not to win an argument because of having an imprecise rationale as long as you turn all the mistakes into something that will make you grow. Turn it into lessons, motivations, and wisdom. Don’t let one mistake stop you from getting all the possibilities in life.

6. Work hard and travel hard.

Your world doesn’t revolve on the four walls of your office. Some of life’s fulfilling experiences are somewhere outside of your normal view waiting for you to discover. Spontaneous airplane ride and long bus rides are some of life’s exciting escapades. Traveling will make you realize that the language you speak is not the only language that you’ll love hearing and the hometown you grew up in is not the only place that you will be happy seeing. You earn your salary at the office but traveling earns you life-changing experiences.

7. Choose who will be happy for you.

Your outlook, success and you as a being is pretty much made of the company you chose to be with. Surround yourself with positive people, someone who uplifts your drive and those who can be genuinely happy for you in every accomplishment you have, big or small. Those people are precious and worth keeping.

8. You will never go wrong for not giving up.

If one day you get up feeling tired and had no inspiration to do great, please do remember that it is okay. It’s okay to get tired and helpless. It’s okay to put things behind temporarily. It will always be okay as long as giving up will never be your option. Get a rest, build back your confidence, gather all the inspirations that went away and stand up as a better you. Keep in mind that you are loved and you will never go wrong for not giving up.

9. You are God’s unique creation and you are always capable of doing more.

Ever think about fitting in on a crowd then you realized you’re not part of it? Let it be and don’t force yourself. Narrow down the idea of fitting in and embrace the truth that you’re a special gem that can shine on its own. We may feel lost along our journey but we will be found eventually.

10. You don’t have to be rich in order to give.

Did you grasp the idea of how it is happier now to give than to receive? Anything you give to someone can make a great difference to him or her. It might be a small token for you but it could be the world for others. It is no longer about how rich or how much you have but it is now about how many drives you lift up and how many smiles you caused because of the kindness of your heart. You will never go poor by giving.

There are still so many things that I wanted to write down but in the meantime, I think these are the things I can share. Always remember that life will never get tired of giving us lessons and realizations as we go on with our journey. It might be tough, it might be something that can make you smile or might be something that you can cherish for the rest of your life but one thing is for sure, it didn’t happen just for no reason.

Growing up on today’s society is now getting difficult and complicated due to the standards that the society itself sets. The respect that people around us would give someone depends on how much he earns, depends on the position he currently have on a company or probably how much help you could give to him or her.

They would say that one woman should be able to get married before turning 30. That one man should work hard and be a sole earner for his growing family. They would say that one daughter should bear a child to be finally called a woman or one son should be able to get a college diploma at the age of 21. There are so many standards going around that would make you feel less of a person if you fail to met those caliber but have you think about how would it be happier if we let those complications and standards slide and be more of ourselves?

I would prefer to go out and see places I’ve never seen before than to keep myself locked out just because people would say it’s not right to spend money on things that won’t last. Life’s experience and memories kept are too precious. I would prefer to go out and eat the foods I want than to keep myself away from the things I crave just because people would mock you for getting fat. A good heart is way better than a perfect figure. I would prefer to meet random people who shares the same love for adventures than to run away from people because someone might judge me of getting along with someone on opposite sex. People who hates wouldn’t say anything good.

It’s okay to be on the beach even though it is not summer just because you want to feel the sands and hear the waves coming. It’s okay to have scrambled eggs and pancakes for dinners. It’s okay to have a slice of pizza when everyone else around you decided to have a pasta. It won’t make you unalike, it won’t make you an outcast, it would only make you, just you. You are just someone who knows your worth and wants. Someone who could make a firm choice without needing anyone’s approval.

So if one day someone asked you on how your coffee should be done, tell him to go ahead and just made a cup of his own. Nothing beats an uncontrollable man or woman because only them can control their selves and that will make all the difference.

When I am still studying and used to attend private school, I would have classmates who would happily tell stories of their holiday and summer break adventures. They would tell how they happily spent holidays on their provinces, swim their hearts out on the white sands of Boracay or even enjoyed the culture they found in Dubai. My role would always be the listener since I barely have any adventures to tell. I just spent most of my time at home during the holidays. I would usually spent time in front of a television crying and laughing towards a local TV shows, do laundry every weekends, cooks food from breakfast to dinner and the cycle repeats the next day. I don’t came from a well off family who affords to go on a yearly vacation trip but teaches me to be happy whether how small or big the blessings that would come along the way.
.
As time passes by, my thought of having an adventure would always depend on money and air trips, changed. I realized that small trips will always be a life changing escapades. I realized that it is okay to have a long distance walk just to enjoy a beautiful view for free. It is okay to attend a class getaway with an exact fare on your pocket two towns away from your home. It is okay to hitch a ride for free to lessen your expenses. It is okay to skip unnecessary meals for a month and save some penny from your school allowance to have a taste of a beach experience. A five thousand peso trip can be equally happy on a three hundred peso trip. A good adventure will always depends on you and the people you spent the time with and on how you let those little adventures change your life little by little.
.
Life is not always meant for travelling and escapades but it is meant for having a first hand experience of life’s unexpected wonders.

One neighbor once questioned me getting a college education and laughed while telling me “Why are you still studying? You’ll just get married by the way”. Regardless he only intended to make me laugh or he really meant what he said, I don’t think that it is okay to make fun and easily come up with a stereotype of what woman can only do.

I only smiled to him as my response. But deep inside my mind I wanna slash him with my words and let him know that I can’t just be someone based on the standards they just give. I wanted him to understand that women are not just a subject of marriage and not just destined to become a mother of her children. Aside from the beautiful profession of being a wife and a mom, one woman can be a leader of a community, a boss of her own company or a woman on the road continuously finding herself and it doesn’t makes her less of a woman.

Any woman or man can get a college diploma as many as she or he wants. Any woman or man can travel around the globe as far as she or he wants. A woman or a man can run a community as modest as she or he wants. For short, ANYONE regardless of the gender can do anything her or his heart desires as long as she or he wants it. The problem here is not how strong a woman’s capabilities are but how the society discern and run down those capabilities.

5 years after I received those words, I am still here. Not MARRIED, not a MOM, still on the way of becoming someone I wanted to be and I think this really not makes me less of a person.

Girl! Don’t follow the crowd, we should follow our heart.

Did you ever stopped and wondered where are you now at this point of your life? You’re on your mid 20s and starts to feel pressured of fixing yourself and to be sure of who you should become before turning the age of 30. You feel a bit scared of not getting a man or a woman who would take good care of you and will eventually be your lifetime partner. You get a little heart attack thinking that your savings account has 50% less compare to a friend that earns lesser than you. You became worried believing that your friend who travelled more places than you will be a more fulfilling person than you.

Whether you’re on 20s, 30s or 40s, stopped thinking that you need to get something at a certain age. You can get anything regardless of your age as long as you put your heart on it. You can run your own company as young as 20 or as old as 45. You can work 8 hours a day for 10 years and eventually find a passion for writing and become a successful book author at the age of 35. Who knows? We can do things regardless of the number.

We tend to look desperately for love nowadays and let pressure gets in. Some people might marry a person he met for 6 months at the age of 40 or some might known a sweetheart since age 5 and marry her at the age 20 and be equally happy. Don’t let pressure finds love. Love will always finds you regardless of the number.

Money should not resembles success. Yes, money would let you buy a lot of material things but it won’t buy some of life’s precious things. Who knows the reason behind your lesser bank money? You might be a breadwinner or you have to pay your sister’s tuition fee. There are people who supports her family and still manage to save but there are people who only supports themselves and still struggles financially. Be happy to have money earned through hard work, regardless of the number.

You travel for the sake of people knowing that you’ve been there. NO. You should travel for the sake of yourself without leaving your pocket empty. You go places to fulfill your desire and learn from the experiences that follows. You don’t have to be better compared to other people, you should only be better from the person you were from yesterday. You post photos out of your own happiness. A travel trips are life changing moments, regardless of the number of places you’ve been.

Let’s stop giving ourselves limits and realize that it is okay not to follow life’s cliche. We are the authors of our own book. We are the writer of each chapter. And each book has their own storyline. How would you write yours? It’s up to you.
